Supported Accommodation

Why do we offer it?

Supported accommodation helps to ensure the local authority fulfil their legal responsibilities contained within a number of strategies, policies and legislation. Preventing homelessness is a priority for all Local Authorities and the provision of supported accommodation provides a safe environment where people can address issues that prevent them from sourcing settled accommodation elsewhere.

Who benefits?

Supported accommodation is a form of temporary accommodation that supports some of the most vulnerable members of our society.

Supported housing users include those who would otherwise be homeless (including those at risk of domestic abuse); older people and people with disabilities (many of whom would otherwise be living in long-term care or hospital settings). Support for young people who are not ready to live independently.

Key selling points

As a Community Interest Company we believe everyone has the right to a home where they are safe, have stability and can live their best life to ultimately achieve positive outcomes. Supported accommodation provides a service to some of the most vulnerable individuals in society that could otherwise be in danger of becoming forgotten members of our society. Councils have a responsibility to house every person in their area and due to Bloom’s Management having previous history of working within the regulated care sector, we believe that landlords providing supported accommodation have a responsibility to ensure the service is supportive, empowering, meets local demand, value for money and is part of the Council’s strategic housing plan.

What problem does it solve?

There are currently 271,000 homeless people in the UK in 2023. In some areas of the country, an estimated 1 in every 22 people lacks a home of their own, living in temp accommodation, hostels or on the streets (Shelter) statistics vary and the key findings from Crisis UK report as 282,000 single people, couples and families were judged as homeless or threatened with homelessness.

Figures vary as the people being monitored move around, can go quickly from one status to another and it is very difficult to analyse. However, the numbers are high and accommodation remains limited.
